Only four days left for Christmas. I can’t say I’m overly excited about it. Which is a real shame taking into consideration it was not so long ago, that I considered it the happiest days of my life. I guess growing older and actually having to go out and get presents for people is not as exciting as being on the receiving end.
For the last month or so, I spent long hours in as many days contemplating if I should open this blog. Don’t get me wrong, I think I’ve always wanted to, but this is not my first try. Or second for that matter. Somehow I feel this one will finally stick.
We’re living in crazy times, a couple of days ago an Ambassador was killed, Aleppo has been liberated, Rosberg quit Formula 1, Trump is president of the United States and Leicester are the defending champions of the Premier League.
My name is Fredy and I’m an Angolan/Portuguese citizen currently residing in Angola’s capital, Luanda. I’ve moved here over 5 years, having previously studied Sound Engineering at the SAE Institute in Cape Town, South Africa. If I had a travel machine, and went back to my early 20’s and asked myself if this would be my country of destination, I’m certain the response would have been a resounding no. But alas here I am, and as far as life goes I can’t complain. I live in a house with my wife my cat Ferrero, close to downtown Luanda, having just moved from a small apartment slightly on the outskirts of the city.
I like to say half jokingly that I have a career and a hobby. It’s just that the hobby ends up taking 8 hours of my day. And I’m not far from the truth, as during the day I work as a trader for a major foreign bank, and during the night I produce music as part of the electronic duo Monotronik, along with a friend name D’Joseph.
For the next couple of years (unless I somehow fail again following through with this idea) you’ll get a much detailed picture of who I am, but so far this will do.
I’m still unsure why I’ve started this once again, but it definitely feels good to write again.
